This free program will benefit all dogs adopted from the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control Shelters in Arizona
Phoenix, Ariz. – (May 1, 2018) The LovePup Foundation is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Lerner and Rowe Gives Back as the exclusive partner of the “It’s Hip to Chip” Program, launching May 1st at Maricopa County Animal Care Control (MCACC). The new program ensures that that every dog that is adopted from either of
the MCACC shelter locations (in Mesa and Phoenix) receives a free microchip upon adoption.
Microchips, normally a $25 cost to the adopter, make it easier and quicker for lost pets to be reunited with their owners. By storing the owner’s contact information in an electronic database, a microchip takes the guesswork out of trying to identify a dog. Microchips are implanted underneath the dog’s skin, so there’s no need to worry about losing the device
like a collar or tag.
“We are excited to partner with #LovePup to fund this progressive initiative. We know that the love and happiness a four-legged family member brings is one of a kind,” says attorney Kevin Rowe. “We are a family of avid dog-lovers, ourselves. Every dog deserves to find a good home filled with love. Microchips make sure that they’re never separated from that home.”
Founder of #LovePup and KISS FM radio host Johnjay Van Es and his family have been fostering dogs for adoption in their home for years. The entire family shares a passion for helping animals and preparing them for their future forever home. Since the creation of #LovePup, the family has rescued, fostered, and found homes for over 1500 dogs. Johnjay Van Es uses the power of social media to screen interested adopters and match them with dogs.
“#LovePup is committed to reducing the number of homeless dogs in our community. Our partnership with Lerner & Rowe has allowed us to be on the forefront of getting to the root of the problem. All newly adopted dogs out of MCACC will now be chipped free of charge, and that is a game changer. Lost dogs will now be more easily reunited with the families that love them!” said Blake Van Es, co-founder of #LovePup.
“We are honored and grateful to be chosen by #LovePup Foundation as the recipient of the ‘It’s Hip to Chip’ Program,” said Jose Santiago, Public Information Officer for Maricopa County Animal Care and Control. “It is a wonderful gift not only to our shelter, but to the animal loving community. It’s no secret that our shelters remain at over capacity with many of those dogs being unidentified strays. A program like this will not only help reunite owners with their lost pet but help to create lifesaving space for other homeless animals in the area.”
The #LovePup Foundation is a non-profit dog rescue organization founded in 2015 by the Van Es family. Johnjay Van Es, his wife, Blake, and their three sons, Jake, Kemp and Dutch, have transformed their home into a full-on dog rescue center, taking in stray and owner surrendered dogs from around the Phoenix area. They provide the dogs with necessary medical attention, shelter, food and care while also socializing them in a home environment and preparing them for adoption. To date, the family has found homes for over 1,500 dogs. #LovePup also acts as a resource for the surrounding Phoenix area rescue community.
